Description
Naval War College, Venice, Italy. The first establishment of the Naval War College dates back to 1908, when the King of Italy opened the first session of the School with the aim of providing a senior course for those officers selected for naval command or other positions of responsibility. During the last century, the school changed location and adapted its nature and course according to the evolution of history, but always focusing on the final goal: to consolidate the naval military doctrine and train new generations of qualified staff officers, ready to support the Navy leadership and decision makers in the preparation and execution of all military operations.
The present structure, called Istituto di Studi Militari Marittimi is located in Venice, within the historical site of the Arsenale Marittimo, after moving from Livorno (within the Naval Academy) in 1999.
Proceeds from the sale of this photograph goes to help orphaned and abandoned children in Colombia South America.
